Assemblies

Assemblies at Lowerhouse Junior School are a time when the school community comes together to reinforce the school’s values and positive attitudes towards learning, to celebrate success and to expose children to a carefully selected range of topics.

Assemblies take place on:

Monday - Whole School Assembly (Mr Lloyd)

Tuesday - Whole School Singing (Mrs Wallace and Mrs McMeekin)

Wednesday - Picture News and British Values Class Assemblies

Thursday - Key Stage EDJ (Equity, Diversity and Justice) Assembly

Friday - Whole School Celebration Assembly

What are EDJ Assemblies?

EDJ Assemblies are special gatherings at our school that focus on Equity, Diversity, and Justice. These assemblies are designed around a focused book to help children understand and appreciate the differences among us, making our school a more inclusive place.

What does EDJ mean?

  • Equity means fairness and ensuring everyone has what they need to succeed.

  • Diversity celebrates our unique backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives.

  • Justice involves standing up for what is right and ensuring everyone is treated fairly.

Why are EDJ Assemblies important?
These assemblies help us learn about important issues, such as bullying and discrimination. By discussing these topics, we can create a supportive environment where everyone feels valued and respected.

By participating in EDJ Assemblies, you play a vital role in making our school a better place for everyone. Together, we can build a community that values Equity, Diversity, and Justice!
