This morning we completed our cardboard castles. The children were really proud of their work with one exclaiming "It's fantastic!". We made sure to include a working draw bridge and moat around our castle for defense as well as our own flags with the name of our castle on. This has been a fun project where we have learned lots of new information.
In our maths lessons the children often explain their methods and ideas to each other. Today, one of the children did a fantastic job of becoming the teacher for a while to help with a question about finding the area of a parallelogram.

After a few weeks of learning about castles including why they were built and what all the different parts are called, Indigo bubble made a start on their cardboard castles today. We have drawn and cut out our castle walls as well as cutting the battlements into our towers. We found the cutting quite tricky but realised it was easier to make indentations with our pencils before cutting.

The children in the Indigo bubble wrote a song about their villains that they created yesterday. We based the structure of the songs on a song about the Grinch. We weren't all brave enough to sing our songs on camera but one of us attempted a creepy voice to read our song lyrics. This afternoon we found out about who Martin Luther King was and why his peaceful protests are so relevant to what we have seen recently in the news. We then wrote our own 'I had a dream' speech about what we would change in the world.
