  • Homework & Home Learning

At Lowerhouse Junior School, we believe that homework & home learning are an important part of every child’s learning journey. It helps children to practise and reinforce skills learnt in class, develop good habits, and share their learning with parents and carers at home.

Each week, children are expected to:

    • Read at least three times and record this in their Reading Records.

    • Practise Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) at least ten times in Studio mode (or an adapted version where appropriate).

    • Practise their weekly spellings, with evidence of practice at least three times.

In Year 6, children are also given additional English and Maths homework at the discretion of the class teacher. This is to support their preparation for secondary school and to build confidence and independence ahead of the Key Stage 2 SATs. These extra tasks give pupils the opportunity to consolidate key skills and deepen their understanding of the core subjects, ensuring they are well-prepared for the next stage of their education.

Homework is set on a Friday, with reminders shared via Class Dojo, and should be returned by Thursday
