This week in English the children continued with their work on the book 'Wonder' by R. J. Palacio.
Linking to the work from last week, the children looked at the words 'unique' and 'ugly'. They then created a class list of synonyms and antonyms for these words. Next as a class they used the idea of 'being unique' and planned a poem using poetic features such as similes, metaphors and repetition. The children then published their poems, adding simple illustrations for detail. Photos are below of the amazing work that was produced this week.
Wilson have worked hard this week and have started to understand and see the relationship between fractions, decimal and percentage equivalences. We will continue to work and build on this next week so that we can challenge ourselves to complete some reasoning and problem solving.
In Art this week, the children created work linked to Wonder. They drew their face in the style of the books cover and then split the background into 8 sections. Each child filled the sections with reasons for why they are each a wonder. By adding colour, it made key messages really stand out.
