Today we have been on the laptops using our coding skills! We had a go at light-bot to practise entering the correct codes to allow the icon to successfully move to the correct place! We loved completing this activity on the laptops and we were very successful with our coding skills!

Friday 10th July 2020

This afternoon in our science session we continued our habitat topic activities. Using our research notes and pressed flowers from last week we created our own herbarium specimens. They look great!

We have had a fantastic home learning challenge - nature collage - brought into school and an example of a code breaking activity completed in English this morning. Well done Yellow Bubble!

This afternoon we have continued with our French topic 'Les Matieres' (school subjects). We have created posters explaining which subjects we like/do not like - all written in French. We all love French!

Look at this beautiful nature collage and a lovely picture of the 'Yellow bubble' girls!

This afternoon in our science session we have been learning how to make and use keys. We have been able to identify some of the trees in our school grounds by identifying their leaves.

Friday 3rd July 2020

In this afternoon's music session, we created our own rhythms on the claves, using the 3 notes we have learned. They sounded great! We also listened to 'The Royal March of the Lion' from The Carnival of the Animals which was written by the composer, Camille saint Saens.

Thursday 2nd July 2020

This afternoon, as part of our science topic 'habitats' we used the laptops to research the famous naturalist, Charles Darwin. Following this, we observed, photographed and researched some wild flowers that we found growing in the grass on the lower junior yard. These plants are now being pressed. We are looking forward to looking at them again in 10 days time!

Wednesday 1st July 2020

This afternoon in our French session we took part in a number of activities to help us learn the words for school subjects. Well done to the girls team who won the coquinas et croissant (naughts and crosses) game. We played detective/murderer and the children worked with a partner to find out which school subjects they liked or disliked - all spoken in French of course!

Tuesday 30th June 2020

Today, we have been learning all about Aboriginal art. We have looked at this previously and we really enjoyed creating aboriginal art with coloured pencils! Today we had a new challenge! To create an aboriginal art piece using paint. Here are some of our creations!

Monday 29th June 2020

Today, Yellow Bubble have been looking into the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. We learnt how he continued to lead peaceful protests for equal rights and to stop segregation during a time when this was not happening in parts of America. We looked at his famous speech,"I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character.” We thought about how his actions have changed the path for many people around the world today. We discussed how we would feel at various points throughout Martin Luther King, Jr's life. We then had a go at creating our very own speech.

Friday 26th June 2020

Today, the children have taken part in a number of musical activities. We have composed our own rhythms and performed these for each other. We have practised putting notes on the stave and listened to a piece of music called The Swan by the composer, Camille Saint-Sean's.

Friday 26th June 2020

One year 4 child has been working extremely hard with her work, especially her times tables. She and her teachers are very proud of her perseverance and attitude to her learning - keep it up!

Thursday 25th June 2020

We went outside this afternoon. As part of our science topic work looking at habitats, the children completed a treasure hunt of 'The unexplored' play ground and environmental area. They discovered many natural things including a centipede, a strawberry, larvae and tree bark.

Wednesday 24th June 2020

Today in the Yellow Bubble we have been working very hard! We looked at fractions in our Maths session and we had a go at finding fractions of quantity! In English we read lots of stories from Africa! We loved how many of them had hidden meanings behind them! In the afternoon we continued to look at the Egyptians! We focused on how Egyptians communicated with each other using Hieroglyphic letters! We had a go at cracking the code before creating our own messages using Hieroglyphic letters! Here are some examples!

Tuesday 23rd June 2020

Today we have gone back in history to learn about the Egyptians. The ancient Egyptian civilisation began 5,000 years ago when people started building villages next to the River Nile in north-east Africa. It lasted for around 3,000 years. We learnt that The ancient Egyptians preserved the bodies of important people through mummification. They built special tombs to be buried in, which they filled with all their favourite things. Some pharaohs built their tombs in the shape of giant pyramids. We had a go at making some 3D pyramids of our own! Here are some examples!

Monday 22nd June 2020

Today in Yellow Bubble, we have worked so hard in the morning looking at our English and Maths! This afternoon we made posters with our names on for our new work stations! We have made them fun and bright! We have also been thinking about and discussing all the positives that we can take from lockdown and we have realised that there are many positives to come from this unfamiliar situation!
