Lowerhouse Junior School

Inspiring a lifelong love for learning

Physical Education Statement of Intent

At Lowerhouse Junior School it is our intent to enable all pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. At Lowerhouse, we offer an enriched Physical Educational curriculum, a wide range of after-school sport clubs and a varied competition programme. We aim to inspire all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. Physical Education at Lowerhouse will provide opportunities to compete in sport and other activities which build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect. It will be developmentally appropriate focusing on learning through physical activities and sport. This will enable our pupils to be physically literate leading to the development of a healthy and active lifestyle. Developing pupils’ understanding of how to keep physically and mentally healthy, and maintain an active lifestyle, including giving ample opportunities for pupils to be active during the school day and through extra-curricular activities is a key priority.
